Our Story
We get asked what our story is quite a bit, so we just wrote it down for you…..
This restaurant was my dream at age 15, along with marrying my middle school girlfriend. We ended up getting married, and she and I purchased this café in 2007, at age 25. When we opened, we couldn’t afford much more than food, but we decided to gradually make small upgrades when we can. The Wildflower is a constant work in progress; we try to get better every week. We focus our energy on providing great food and service.
Our goal is to serve the best food and drink we can, while minimizing our impact on the Earth, & help to generate a sustainable local food economy. To that end, we feature a regularly changing menu that is based on seasonal, local eating, and peak freshness, “Slow Food”. We serve food that was raised the way it was meant to be.
Like the farmers & producers we deal with, we charge an honest price, for an honest product, and we're proud of that.
Our food is handmade with love in our own kitchen. I create the recipes and taste every wine before it makes our list, I am proud of our quality & value. My wife, friends and family help cook & serve it. Please allow time for us to prepare your food, we make it all fresh & from scratch, in our tiny kitchen and sometimes that takes a bit longer, but we think you’ll appreciate the difference.
Most of our product comes from local sources, some of it we grow ourselves or buy from organic producers. This costs us a bit more, but provides very high-quality, clean food, that’s good for you, the planet and our children.
We are strong supporters of local independent businesses, and strive to be different from all the chains.
The Wildflower was a residence for 100 years, & even Jenna and I lived upstairs! It was a 2 family unit most of those years, so you’re probably sitting in a former living room. My family & friends helped me renovate it for a year, & then we opened The Wildflower for business in mid 2008.
Stay in touch, we’ve got some great things coming soon……
Thanks for supporting a local business and many family farms across Ohio!
